Does Data Academy support SQL 2008?
The latest versions of Data Academy will support SQL Server 2008.
Can I integrate Data Academy into my existing SQL Server farm?
Yes - integration of Data Academy into a SQL Server farm is 100% supported.
Can I load Excel data into my data warehouse?
Yes, via ODBC, but... Excel spreadsheets are prone to changes by originating users. This practise cannot be tolerated by a structured data warehouse as it requires reasonable stability in its data sources. For these reasons we would not recommend the use of Excel as a data source natively or via ODBC.
Does Data Academy run on a 64 bit environment?
Yes - Data Academy supports 64 bit installations of SQL Server 2005 and there are 32 and 64 bit versions of the Data Academy UI. Data Academy Data Services is 32 bit only but will run under WoW on a 64 bit server.
Can Data Academy be installed on the same server where I have my other applications installed?
In most cases, yes - Data Academy itself incurs only a minimal degree of load, as most tasks are actually executed by SQL Server.
Does Data Academy support table partitioning?
Yes - because Data Academy works with native SQL databases and tables, you can edit the resulting objects to support partitioning and they will retain these properties going forward.
Can I "add" Data Academy to my existing data warehouse?
Yes - Data Academy can be "attached" to an existing data warehouse - just run the Database Installer on your existing database, upload a license key and you are ready to go. You can also add extra Data Loaders, run transformations on your existing datasets, or perhaps build star schemas and cubes from your own tables and views.
